While Japanese needles are hard in order to sew straight stitches, American needles are characterized by a moderate flexibility that makes sewing curves easier.
American needles are available in “long” and “short” types, and their length and thickness are indicated by size numbers.
They are numbered from No.1 to No.12, with smaller numbers indicating longer and thicker needles.
