At Nomura Tailor, we are always inspired by the beautiful creations our customers make with fabrics from our Kyoto store.
Today, we would love to introduce two talented makers who visited us and brought our fabrics into their own creative journeys.
🌿 Danica’s Quilted Jacket Story
Danica visited our Kyoto store during her trip to Japan and selected fabrics that later became part of her handmade wardrobe.
Her first project of the new year was a quilted jacket made using the Homebody Quilted Jacket pattern by @matchymatchysewingclub.
She described the pattern as approachable yet satisfying, perfect even for advanced beginners.
Using a thicker batting, she created a warm and cozy piece—beautifully balancing function and design.
It’s always inspiring to see how fabrics chosen during travel become meaningful garments, carrying memories across seasons.
Thanks for using The Onigiri's fabric but unfortunately sold out.

🌸 Paopao’s Fabric Journey in Japan
Paopao also shared a closer look at the fabrics she selected from our store in her video.
One of the most striking pieces was an exceptionally structured fabric:
“I think this is the stiffest fabric I've ever seen because it literally stands up on its own.”
She is planning to use it for the Thompson Coat by Daughter Judy, and is excited to see how her home sewing machine handles such a unique material.
She also chose a wool tweed together with her partner:
“We really liked the brushed texture and the subtle variation in color.”
Although her usual palette is quite neutral, she decided to try something different and selected a beautiful red fabric:
“This will make a perfect Jenna Shirt by Closet Core Patterns.”
Of course, no project is complete without the right notions:
“For these projects, we picked out some beautiful mother-of-pearl buttons,
and my partner chose darker brown ones as well.”
Her selected item is below
