Denim is a standard fabric that is durable, tear-resistant, and can be used for a wide range of products from clothing to miscellaneous accessories.
10 ounce denim is a lighter weight denim, although it is firmer than most denim fabrics.
Denim is expressed as a weight in "fat ounces," and the higher the number, the heavier the denim, which generally means thicker.
Denim fabrics of 8 to 10 ounces are usually classified as lightweight, and general denim (jeans) is said to be 13.5 to 14 ounces.
Since there is a distortion in the grain of the fabric, it is recommended that the fabric be cut after it has been corrected.
