Takashima chijimi has been produced in Takashima City, located northwest of Lake Biwa, since the Tenmei period of the Edo period.
The tradition has been passed down to the present day without ceasing as chijimi, crepe, and willow fabrics.
The fabric has a unique texture that reduces the area in contact with the skin, making it a cool and refreshing material with excellent sweat absorbency, ideal for the hot and humid climate of Japan.
With a thickness about the thickness of a sheeting, it can be used for a wide range of applications from clothing to interior decorations.
